| What is Medicare? |
| Medicare is the U.S. Federal Government Health Insurance Program for: |
- People 65 years of age and older.
- People with certain disabilities under age 65.

| Medicare has Four Parts: |
Part A: Hospital Insurance
Part B: Medical Insurance (2008 - $96.50 is automatically deducted monthly from your Social Security check by Medicare).
Part C: Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private health insurance companies as an alternative to Original Medicare; plans are government subsidized and regulated.
Part D: Medicare prescription drug benefit (started in 2006).

| Eligibility Requirements: |
- Must have Medicare Parts A & B.
- Must continue to pay Medicare Part B premiums.
- Must reside in the product service area.
- Must not have ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease).

- Annual Election Period (AEP)
November 15 – December 31, 2008
- Medicare Beneficiary can make a new plan choice

January 1 – March 31, 2008
- Medicare Beneficiary can switch to, from or within a Medicare Advantage Plan to a “like-plan”
- Special Election Period (SEP)
April 1 – December 31, 2008
- Retiring
- Turning 65 within 3 months
- Medicare & Medicaid Beneficiary
- Moving in to a plan’s service area
- Plan no longer offered in area
- Voluntary/involuntary termination of employer group health insurance coverage
